President Aquino declared six new National Artists leaving Nora Aunor off the list submitted by NCCA and CCP without any explanation given to the Filipino people.

Manila, Philippines - President Aquino III proclaimed six (6) new National Artists excluding Nora Aunor.
“The Office of the President owes the CCP and the NCCA an explanation for the insulting disregard of the choice of Nora Aunor for national artist. I ask fellow national artists and other artists to protest this insult to the rigorous process of choosing national artists"- Statement from Bienvenido Lumbera of National Artist for Literature

The newly-proclaimed artists named as Francisco Coching (for Visual Arts), Alice Reyes (for Dance), Francisco Feliciano (for Music), Cirilo Bautista (for Literature), Ramon Santos (for Music) and Jose Maria Zaragoza (for Architecture, Design and Allied Arts).

Some sources say it's kind of similar what happened during former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's regime where musician Ramon Santos was victimized by the abuse of power and dropped from being a National Artist in 2009. They believe that there is a dirty politics going on today as well. Some power tripping from the Office of the President is currently on the role as to why Nora Aunor left out on the list.

In the middle of this dispute of Nora Aunor not being proclaimed as one of our National Artists, the legal counsel for the NCCA (National Commission for Culture and the Arts), Trixie Cruz-Angeles proposing that President's approval and intervention should no longer be needed for choosing National Artists, instead just a formality.

After the declaration of thew six (6) new National Artists, MalacaƱang has yet issued any details regarding exclusion of Nora Aunor from the list that is why supporters, fans, and other artists are yelling for an explanation over the internet and mass media. Groups are created such as Facebook Fan Page "Nora Aunor For National Artists" showing their support and posting other artists' support which currently gathers around thousands of likers and followers.

Statement from William Reyes, an entertainment writer, pointing out politics is the root of it all.

Message from Director Adolfo Borinaga Alix Jr.

A strong support came from a well-known fashion designer, Eddie Baddeo.

There are many other groups supporting believing that Nora Aunor should be one of our National Artists based on what she had done for our cultural and arts and for our country itself.

Under the Republic Act 7356, section 4, article A: The Filipino national culture shall be independent, free of political and economic structures which inhibit cultural sovereignty.

Monday, June 23, 2014, The NCCA is considering the resubmission of the actress' name for National Artist award.

WE SUPPORT NORA AUNOR FOR NATIONAL ARTIST!
DOWN WITH THE DIRTY POLITICS!
FREE THE PHILIPPINE CULTURAL ARTS!
