Shaun sat at his computer 10 hours a day. His mum asked, "did my son eat himself to death?" This should serve as a warning story to other teens out there.

Shaun Appleby, died aged 18 due to sudden adult death syndrome and obesity. He also became a computer game addict. He was first diagnosed as obese when was 13 years of age.

His mum Satish mourns his death, her heart was broken due to this very unfortunate event. She says that this serves as a warning to all the youngsters out there. Her son's lifestyle should not be tolerated to others, especially the love for the junk food and playing computer games for such long hours per day.
"My message is for children to get out more, meet other kids, get more fresh air and get off their computers.

"It's not healthy to be on a computer for hours and hours every day," said mum-of-two Satish.

"If this saves one child then Shaun's death is not wasted. It means Shaun has shone.

"No parent should be going through what I am."

Shaun was born in England and he moved to Australia with his family. His dream was to become a games tester. His parents got separated and his big sister Chloe moved to Whitley Bay, North Tyneside with their father. He was left with his mum and started to grab fast food that gained him pounds in a very short period of time.

He was weighing approximately 102.5 kg or 226lbs when he was aged 13 and a doctor diagnosed him as obese. Despite the obesity, he continued to gain weight. His mum put too much effort to help him eat healthy foods and to motivate him to get some exercise.

His mum, Satish,56 years of age is a chef who ran a boutique B&B in Australia. She went back to Whitley Bay when Shaun was 14 and shared the parental role.

Satish said that Shaun's favorites were cola, crisps, chips and chicken nuggets. He loved to eat in fast food chains like McDonald's,Kentucky Fried Chicken and Pizza Hut.

When he turned 15 years old, he looked like a Buddha, as per his mum.
"There are two types of kids these days, those who have six-packs and those who sit at their computers - many of whom hide behind their hair, have no confidence and have low self-esteem." -Satish said.

Kids nowadays spend too much time at their computers, iPhones, and other digital devices like what Shaun did. He was obese and had low self-esteem.

At the age of 17, he weighed 125kg or 276lbs with a waist line of 40. This was his heaviest year. Shaun died at 18 and a half weighing 100kg and 6ft 2in tall.

Just months' time, he was set to meet a girl who he had met in the web. He started to lose weight by enrolling on the Slimming World programme. But that day will not come no more.

Satish helped carry Shaun's coffin at his funeral ceremony and said: "He had gone to bed at about 4am and when he didn't wake up at around 4pm in the afternoon I went to wake him. He was frozen dead."
"That is so hard to come to terms with. I will mourn all my life for him. He was my heartbeat."
