Commuters expressed delight as travelling will soon be more convenient, thanks to LRT-Line 2 extension project.
Light Rail Transit Authority Administrator Honorito Chaneco together with Transportation and Communications Undersecretary Julianito Bucayan formally announced the LRT-East Extension Project last Tuesday.
Commuters received this news positively as travelling will become faster and more convenient soon. Two additional stations named Emerald Station and Masinag Station will be added that will further extend to Masinag junction in Antipolo City.
According to GMA news, the regular 30-minute travel time from Masinag will be reduced to as little as six minutes.
Chaneco claimed that the P9.5-billion project will boost the number of LRT-line 2 commuters. On a daily basis, LRT-line 2 carries a total of 240, 000 passengers and is expected to have an additional number of 75, 000 passengers once the project is fully functional.
In addition to this, Department of Technology and Communication plans to spend fund on additional trains to support the extension project that is expected to be completed on 2017.
According to Bucayon, although the trains are still well-maintained and fully-functional, adding a couple more is necessary to ensure the quality service for their passengers.
