Atty. Howard Chan recalls all the hardships and pain he had been through to obtain his status now. He is now a successful lawyer but he had a very humble beginnings.

He posted a photo of his two IDs. One was taken while he was working as a fast food crew and the other one is his official ID as a lawyer.

ABS CBN interviewed Atty. Chan and he shared his path to success.

Howard Chan has a mother that works as a waitress, a father who works as a taxi driver and has 5 siblings that's why he was forced to work to support his studies.

He worked in a fast food chain while studying in college. He remembers how he was laughed at and ridiculed while doing his job.

"Yung bang tipong tatawagin ka tapos papakuha ng ketchup. Pagbalik mo e papakuha ng tissue. Pagbalik mo ulit e papakuha ng tubig, and then magtatawanan sila," (They will call your attention to give them tissue, then ask you again to give them water when you get back. Then they will laugh when they see you suffering) he shared to ABS-CBN news.

Apart from being a service crew, he took other jobs such as working as a house painter for a local real estate company.

Earning only P21 per hour as a service crew was not enough to support his needs. He decided to leave the job to work as an English tutor for Koreans. He quit after one semester because he realized that his salary was not enough to pay for his tuition fee in College of Law of Saint Louis University.

He quit teaching and started to work in a call center. After two years of taking calls, he realized that he didn't want to spend the rest of his life taking calls. He decided to pursue law and he enrolled at the College of Law of the University of the Cordilleras. He continues to work and study at the same time.

"On the final day of exams during my second year, second semester, my father died," he said. "As I was out of focus, I failed an exam and needed to transfer to another law school because of it. I eventually transferred to the University of Baguio [where I finished law]."

Chan said his problems at work added to the stress brought about by his father's death.

He had to transfer to another company but he had a harder time because the it was a financial account and I talked to irate customers most of the time.

He was introduced to an online job by a friend. He ended up working as a virtual assistant.

"When I became a lawyer, I just knew that I have to be that kind of lawyer that I admire back in the days when we were struggling. I don’t have to be the smartest or the most prominent. I just want to be one of the most judicious and moral," Howard Chan said.

His road to success inspired people who heard and read his story. Netizens wished him good luck in all his future endeavors.
