A public official calls Nancy Binay "Inday" by mistake in their own house

Calling someone another name by mistake is such an embarassing experience. That's what happened to one of the mayors visiting the Binay residence. What would you do if you were him? What would you do if you were mistaken?

What? Is it for real? It's unbelievable, isn't? Well, it really happened. It was actually justified by Senator Nancy Binay. She shared the story late last month in Bandera's column of entertainment written by Jobert Sucaldito.

Sucaldito did not write about it in detail. But it was reported that it happened when the senator visited her parents in Makati City.

His friend, who was also in the same house, narrated what happened on that day:

Some mayors and visitors were reportedly invited by the vice president. They came early for breakfast. Meanwhile, the senator in a simple dress, just woke up and went to the kitchen to give assistance in serving food.

Unfortunately, one of the mayors did not clearly identify the senator while serving breakfast. So the mayor called and asked her, "Inday, please give me some food too."

To avoid making the mayor feeling awkward, she just eagerly and willingly said: "Yes, Mayor."

When she went to get the food in the kitchen, one of the visitors told the mayor that he was in trouble because he ordered food from the senator. "That's Sen. Binay, he said."

After hearing that, his face turned red out of an extreme embarrassment. When the senator got back with the food, the mayor excessively apologized.

He said that he's sorry for not being able to identify her. He's really sorry about it.

However, the senator just let it go saying words humbly to make the mayor comfortable.

She said that it's okay. It's their house so it's her responsibility to serve their guests. At home, she's not a senator, but just a a daughter helping her father.

She said that she was mistaken for maid because she's was just then wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

The accuracy of the writer's story cannot be confirmed because he's a close friend of the senator, as he declared. But if it was true, then Nancy has to take credits for showing us such kind of modesty and deferential way of living. These are almost rare to be seen among people living in power and in prosperity just like her and her siblings.
