Netizens were at rage as government officials hurt a tricycle driver. His tricycle was destroyed as well.
The short footage shows a tricycle driver and some baranggay officials. The man was hurt by the officials as he tries to get his belongings in the tricycle.
Authorities are only allowed to use force when they are in grave danger or within a threat of harm. By the looks of it, the tricycle driver didn't do anything that may be a threat to their lives or endanger them.
Netizens were at rage after watching the video. The tricycle driver looks pitiful. He screamed "Pang hanap buhay ko yan. Mga gamit ko!" (That's what I use to earn money, my belongings).
However, the video didn't show what the driver actually did to make the officials at rage.
Up to writing, the video was viewed more than 200,000 times. More than 7000 Facebook users also shared the video.
Facebook page of the rapper named Bassilyo posted the same video and was shared more than 80,000.
Mandaluyong City Public Information Office released a statement in response to the video.
"A video on social media shows the apprehension of a tricycle driver identified as Mr. Roberto A. Carpio Jr., who is also a former city hall employee assigned at the Traffic & Parking Management Office and the enforcers from the Mandaluyong Tricycle Regulatory Office.
