Netizen shares unfortunate experience of ambulance delay due to the traffic jam last Saturday.

Traffic congestion in the Philippines, most particularly in Metro Manila has reached alarming levels. If you are a daily commuter whose route includes passing through Epifanio De los Santos Avenue (EDSA), then you must have a handful of experiences on just how cruel a traffic jam can be.

Netizens actually invented a term to describe massive traffic jam, which they coined as 'carmaggedon' or being stuck in a bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Aside from being late and the dreading heat in the road, what's even worse is an ambulance delay wherein an emergency situation can turn out pretty bad due to the traffic condition. Unfortunately, several people have already perished due to ambulance delays.

On August 30, celebrity Jim Paredes posed a question in Twitter that reads:

“If anyone dies in this traffic right now, or an ambulance can’t make it to the hospital, who will answer? Does anyone care?”

Netizens responded quickly and shared their experiences over Paredes' tweet. However, one netizen caught our eyes as he recalls an unfortunate incident that rooted from traffic.

"Mom of my friend died due to heavy traffic..the ambulance can't get through. T'was yesterday."

Though no other details were provided, some netizens speculate that this incident sprouted from the traffic congestion caused by the rally of Iglesia ni Cristo on EDSA that lasted for five days.

Due to the rally, the roads between EDSA Shrine up to EDSA-Shaw Boulevard were impassable. If it really is the cause of the death of the poor woman, who is to blame? And as Jim Paredes puts it, who will answer?
