Meet Telstra: The new telcom soon to rise in PH to provide faster internet for consumers

PLDT and Globe will soon face a new rival in providing a quality internet connection speed to the Filipinos.

On 2014, Philippines placed 103rd on the list of countries according to their average internet connection speed. Among other Asian countries, Philippines is being left-out in terms of a fast internet connection with only an average of 3.7 mbps download speed, compared to our neighboring country Singapore which has 133.1 mbps.

This takes a direct toll on the consumers from major telecommunication networks. Oftentimes, consumers pay way more than the rightful service they deserve. Not only are the promos too expesive, but the networks are taking advantage of the unsuspecting consumers who shoulder extra charges and fees in exchange for a disappointing service.

As a local politician once said, the state of internet speed in the PH is pathetic. However, there is still light in the end of the tunnel. Rumors about a new telcom soon to rise in the country spreaded in social media that caused quite a stir among the netizens.

Recent report from BusinessMirror.com confirmed that an Australian company Telstra Corp. Ltd. is soon to be introduced to the Philippines. The best in its field, Telstra is also reportedly the leading telecommunications provider in Australia.

Meanwhile, the possible entry of this company was seen as a challenge for PLDT and Globe to compete in providing quality service that their consumers deserve. Globe President Ernest L. Cu is confident that Globe can keep up.

In an email, Cu stated: “Globe has been successful in its transformation initiatives over the last five years, which resulted in consistent market-share gains and strong business performance."

On the other hand, netizens are expressing their excitement over the highly-anticipated launch of this telcom network in the country which is rumored to provide a 100mbps speed for as low as 2k per month.
