WATCH: Canadian man captures mysterious phenomenon of Earth 'breathing'

The internet has been driven to madness over this video which eerily shows the Earth 'breathing' along with the strong winds. The footage was captured by Canadian man Brian Nuttall near his home in the forest floor of Nova Scotia.

Nuttall was hiking along the Apple River in Cumberland Country last October 30 when he noticed the strange sight of the soil rising altogether in an inward and outward motion. He took out his cellphone and began filming the eerie phenomenon.

The online community were equally baffled and amazed at this bizarre phenomenon. Some offered their speculation about the video, one Facebook user concluded that the ground shrinking is a sign of a developing sinkhole. Another claimed that it was caused by an underground river, hence the 'breathing' motion.
Sometimes, speculation offers a more interesting story than knowing the real reason behind things like these. Before you jump to any conclusions, Nuttall already offered the scientific explanation behind his viral video:

I feel the trees didn't grow deep strong roots as they wouldn't be needed when surrounded by a forest, sheltered with strength in numbers unlike a tree found alone in a pasture. The punishing prevailing winds have taken their toll on the side hill, the roots have loosened and the mossy ground from the once shaded forest floor are giving way, soon to be toppled over.

To put it simply, the tree roots underneath the forest floor did not grew deeply. This resulted to the breathing motion because when strong winds blew, the trees lean uncontrollably and pull the roots upward.

On the other hand, people expressed their amazement on this rare phenomenon. Some even commented that Nuttall was fortunate to witness it first-hand. He responded in his Facebook post:

I realise from the comments that I take beautiful Nova Scotia and the area I live in for granted. Whether it be miles of coastline, endless acres of forest, lakes, rivers, dozens of small coastal or inland waterfalls, and wildlife walking across my property, I view these locations and nature without much regard to how lucky I am.
