Presidential sister says in an Instagram post that the 'world is fair' after acquiring sunburn from APEC summit.

MANILA, Philippines -- Recently, TV host-actress Kris Aquino posted a photo in Instagram showing her sunburnt skin which she acquired from her hosting duties in Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit. The photo did not make news, rather it is her controversial caption that sparked an outrage among the netizens.

On Thursday, the presidential sister posted the said photo of her sunburnt back along with the caption:

About to sleep, Bimb took this picture- decided to post this so we can all have a good laugh tonight sa karma ng kaartehan ko. Na sunburn ako ng bongga- nabilad in Fort Santiago at the peak of the just before noon heat. (About to sleep, Bimb took this picture- decided to post this so we can all have a good laugh tonight in the karma for being dainty. I was sunburnt from being exposed under the sun in Fort Santiago at the peak of just before noon heat.)

Aquino, among with her three other sisters were entrusted with touring the first ladies of the world leaders who attended the summit. The ' A Walk Through Time' tour, which started in Fort Santiago, aimed to introduce historical sites in the country. Traditionally, the duty is given to the first lady but because President Benigno Aquino is a bachelor, the responsibility fell down upon his sister's shoulders.

Quits na tayo sa lahat ng nahirapan mag commute these past few days, patas ang mundo, patche patche naman ang balat ko, she added. (Let's call it quits to the commuters who suffered these past few days, the world is fair, my skin has patches all over.)

Her post gathered criticisms from netizens who said branded Kris 'insensitive' for comparing her condition to the inconvenience of the commuters. Due to the summit, several major roads were closed temporarily, resulting in a massive traffic congestion that caused thousand commuters to walk under the blistering heat. An Instragram user commented:

You called it quits? You haven't experienced walking from one city to another and all you had is a simple sunburn. Call it quits when you are in the shoes of the commuters who suffered from your brother's traffic plans.

A Facebook user even compared Kris' situation to that of a police officer who was left wounded from the rally at Liwasang Bonifacio.

In all fairness, Kris' sunburnt skin is a dot in contrast with the sacrifices of our commuters. Most of them were greeted with traffic congestion and arrived late at their work, only to face the same problem when going home. The MRT and LRT were also teeming with passengers trying to escape traffic in EDSA.
