Ramon Bautista defends Mar Roxas from critics

In a Facebook post, Ramon Bautista denied the allegations that he was paid to endorse Liberal Party's Mar Roxas.

Since the 2016 national election is just around the corner, celebrities and showbiz personalities are already choosing their presidential bets. While some decided to keep their choices to themselves, there are others who willingly endorse their candidates to the public. Their choices will reflect their image and while most celebrities get the public's approval, some of them were criticized.

Recently, comedian-host Ramon Bautista came face to face with the public's disbelief and doubts after announcing his support for presidential aspirant Mar Roxas from Liberal Party. Just like any other personalities, ever since his declaration, Bautista has been vocal of his support for Roxas' candidacy which became the subject of social media discussions. People refused to believe that there were no financial agreements between them.

Amidst the criticisms and raised eyebrows, Bautista did not bat an eye and stood by his decision to support Roxas. To combat his basher's criticisms, he poured his sentiments in a lengthy Facebook post last Friday addressed to the 'judgmental people on the internet'. There, he thoroughly explained why he opt for Roxas instead of other candidates. Instead of judging, Bautista advised his bashers to ask.
(Why Mar? These are the things I am looking for a future president: 1. Focuses on education 2. Provides solution for traffic 3. Will not steal from me and 4. Has sustainable ways to improve the economy for the majority.)

Bautista also denied the controversial allegations of a financial agreement between him and Mar in exchange for his endorsement. He clarified that he supported Mar out of choice and not money.

Mag isip tayo para sa future ng bansa. Demokrasya ito and your vote is as good as mine. Ito ang opinyon ko at kung ayaw nyo syang iboto, edi wag. Wag nyo sabihin hindi ko kayo sinabihan ng kakayahan at plataporma ni Mar. Wag puro meme ang binabasa. Research-research din pag may time. (Let's think for the future of the country. This is democracy and your vote is as good as mine. This is my opinion and if you don't want to vote for him [Roxas], then don't. Just don't tell me that I did not inform you about the ability and platforms of Mar. Don't depend on memes. Do some research if you have the time.)

Mapanghusgang mundo ng internet. Hindi ako nagpapaka self righteous. Si Mar malamang hindi rin. Walang perpekto sa...

Under the Philippine Constitution, every citizen has the right and freedom to choose his own candidate. However, since his own choice represents a chunk of his personality, even his right of freedom can't be a guarantee that he won't be judged especially by the scrutinizing eyes of the society. Technically, the public should not meddle with an individual's political choice but since Bautista is a public personality, it is unavoidable.

As the humorous saying goes, there are different strokes for different folks. What suits you may not be the same for other people, but this reason is not enough to opress them for their choices. What do you think of this issue? Give us your two cents about this in the comment's section below.
