LOOK: 3 kids allegedly shot by Marines on New Year's Eve

A concerned citizen posted a gruesome photo of a kid who was allegedly shot by Marines along with two other minors.

Instead of a feisty celebration, it seems like residents of Brgy. Matatal, Maimbung Sulu will be welcoming the new year with grief after Philippine Marines Corps detached on the location allegedly fired blindly at the area, shooting three minors in the process.

A concerned citizen turned to social media to vent out his complaint regarding the bloody incident and posted a photo in Facebook showing a wounded boy. According to his post, children aged 8, 10 and 12 years old were injured and needed immediate medical attention after being shot.

The incident started when two M79 were allegedly fired towards the Marines. The post reads: "May nagpaputok umano ng dalawang M79 sa "battalion" ng Marines sa Matatal, Maimbung. Gumanti syempre ang marines, nagpaputok kung saan galing ang punglo, malayo sa kabahayan."
Rough translation: "Someone allegedly fired two M79 on the "battalion" of Marines in Matatal, Maimbung. The Marines sought revenge and fired on the direction where the bullets came from, far from the resident's area."

Because of the sounds of bullets being fired in the air, the residents suddenly escaped in a commotion. "Nagtakbuhan ang mga tao, kumubli sa gym. Walang ganti mula sa kalaban dahil nangharassed lang at tumakbong palayo. Hanggang humupa na ang pagbabaril ng mga Marines, at umuwi na sa kanilang bahay ang mga residente." (People ran and hid in the gym. There's no revenge for the foes because they just harassed and then ran away. When the Marines ceased shooting, the residents went back to their homes.)

After about 30 minutes, right when they thought the shooting was over, another three shots suddenly fired in the air. According to the post, the Marines battalion intentionally aimed their fire at the houses, injuring three kids in the process. On the other hand, no other details about the story was spared and we are still verifying the veracity of the information presented.

Prior to this unconfirmed incident, the Armed Forces of the Philippines issued a warning to its soldiers about indiscriminate firing on New Year's eve. The AFP has reminded its soldiers to refrain from using their firearms due to the rising cases of stray bullets injuries. Armed Forces spokesman Col. Restituto Padilla said:
"Soldiers are reminded to observe our regulations against illegal discharge of firearms. Failure to do so could result in separation from the service and cancelation of benefits."
