In United Kingdom, a notorious man of stealing charity collection tin from bars was caught on a CCTV of a bar.

He is Lee White, 35. He stole the pub’s charity box and three other charity tin from three other restaurants in Portsmouth in a period of less than two months.

White was sentenced to jail for 12 weeks. He admitted the crime of theft at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

Based on the report, he started his stealing spree of charity collections last December 20 when he stole a tips pot from Portsmouth Cafe Pie and Vinyl. The next incident happened January 28 when he took a charity tin from Bangkok Restaurant of the same city.

In less than a week, he filched a cancer charity collection box from Thatched House pub and after two days he was finally captured on CCTV at Milton Arms pub carrying a charity tin from the establishment.
The charity box taken from the Bangkok Restaurant was a Tom Prince Cancer Trust tin founded by Clinton Prince, 57 after his son’s name after had tragically died of a rare osteosarcoma bone cancer in 2004. Tom Prince is just 15 years of age.

“To steal from a charity is the lowest form of theft I can think of. It shocks decent hard-working people to their core that somebody was as low as that to steal from a sick child.

‘Words fail me, I’m disgusted – it’s upsetting for the people who put money in there to give to a good cause,” Clinton Prince said.

Chris Vaux, 35, is the co-owner of the Milton Arms pub where White was caught on CCTV taking the tin which was raising money for young persons charity Motiv8.

Mr Vaux had chosen to raise cash for the charity as it was closely linked to his best friend Matt Berry, a 34-year-old DJ, who died in March 2014.

Chris Vaux of Milton Arms Pub, where White caught on CCTV, added, “Initially I was very, very upset, I was very angry. It brings it closer to home – you hear about these things, but it’s only when it happens to you that you realise. You’ve got to be particularly desperate to take money given in good faith. The perpetrator has a track history of this type of thing and he’s not learnt from his mistakes.”

Hope that this will not happen in other places, like the Philippines because every bit of money in different charity really makes difference!
