Bullying tactics: China uses chemicals to kill fishes to drive away Filipino fishermen

China strikes again as it intentionally dumps chemicals and kills fishes to drive Filipino fishermen away from disputed island.

Recently, Philippines won the arbitration case versus China over South China Sea. The United Nations have decided that the “historic claim” of China has no basis and that the said country is violating the sovereignty of the Philippines. Before this decision, China was reported to bully Filipino fishermen who tried to fish on the vicinity. They also built man-made structures on the area. It seems that they are doing this to other islands, too.

The Pag-asa Island is one of the islands in the disputed Kalayaan group of islands west of the Philippines. It was reported that the marine resources are being destroyed by Chinese vessels by dumping chemicals intentionally. According to Facebook page Kalyaan ATIN ITO, the goal is to stop any activities and force the civilians to abandon the islands. Once the area is isolated, China will take control and take over as they build their military base.

In a video recently uploaded, hundreds of fishes were seen dead on the shore.

Pag-asa island, a.k.a. Thitu Island, is part of the municipality of Palawan but countries such as Taiwan, China and Vietnam are claiming the area as their own.

Netizens have condemned China over this bullying tactics. The Philippines and the said country have been in an ongoing territorial feud over numerous islands, including the Spratlys Islands. What will the government do regarding this matter?
